So there's this one commercial that plays constantly on the radio station I listen to in the mornings. It's something about Help Delete Online Predators. A public service announcement more than a commercial I guess. And it's pretty straightforward. But it bothers me. Not for any really good reason, but because they use the word "acronym" in it about a half a dozen times. AND THEY AREN'T USING IT RIGHT. An acronym is an abbreviation that is pronounced as a word. Like scuba or Nasa. I understand that they're trying to teach parents to be aware of the abbreviations that their children are using online, but "lmao" and "bbiab" are not acronyms. Some of the abbreviations we use can be pronounced but the majority are not. And it would be one thing if this psa only played once on my morning drive, but some days I hear it five or six times, and it takes only an hour and a half to get to work the way I drive.
