I don't know anymore...

I want to write. I signed myself up for a ficathon thingie, and I'm going to force myself to write for it. But it's honestly not what I'd really like to write at this point in time. I want to write something original, rather than something fannish, but I'm having this huge roadblock of a problem with writing original things. Fandom-y things are easy. I've already got at least a few constraints to my writing just by picking a fandom, and usually a pairing. Original work... Well, at this point I'm wondering how the fuck authors even do it. I've got sooooo many different, unrelated interests, and while what I'd like to do is write some sort of mastubatory piece where I can address a number of them at once, they're so far removed from one another that there's really no way that I can see, in my infinite short-sightedness, to connect them. Let me give you an idea of what I mean:
