Kitten update

So here's the story. About two weeks ago, I put the kittens outside. Since I wasn't home most of the day, my mom was looking in on them while they were inside with Mu Shu, but then she seemed to get it into her head that Mu Shu was able to open and close the door by herself, so she wasn't going over to my place to let the cat out to do her business. (Because we don't believe in litter boxes. Not when you live on a ranch miles away from civilization.) So I come home one day, and there was cat shit on the bathroom floor. Which, being linoleum, wasn't much trouble to clean up, but I realized that next time it might be on carpet, and my mother wasn't bothering to help by letting the cat out, like she said she was going to. So outside they all went. I had taken the door off a pet carrier and lined it with a towel for the kittens to sleep in, and I put the whole thing out on the porch. The next day, however, the pet carrier was empty, and the kittens had disappeared under the house.

This wasn't a big deal. Underneath the house is where Mu Shu lives. But until yesterday, I hadn't seen the kittens again. I called for them every night, but only Mu Shu would come out to see me. Yesterday, I come home, and my mother starts telling me about how Mu Shu attacked her dog and how funny it was that my skinny-as-a-rail kitty scared the shit out of a fairly good-sized beagle. And that she saw the kittens peeking out, but the dog made them too nervous to come out from under the house. So I go over and call them, and they all come crawling out, still looking so much like drunk little fat guys, staggering through grass taller than they are. Oh god. They are ridiculous. I sat down and played with them for a little while. They thought my toes were the best toy ever. Pookie had a little bit of an eye problem, but I took a wet paper towel to it, and I don't think he'll have a problem as long as I keep watch. I'll take more pictures of them this weekend, maybe.
